About the Captain

A Traverse City native, Captain Adam Collett has fished the pristine wilderness lakes in Manitoba and Saskatchewan, the flats in the Florida Keys, and trout streams in Montana…even catfish in the Mississippi! But the waters of our beloved East Bay continue to capture his heart.

Captain Collett is a adamant supporter of the Grand Traverse Area Sport Fishing Association. He applauds the GTASFA’s efforts in meeting with the DNR to help regulate responsible fishing. A reasonable limitation on total catches per year will allow a healthy and prolific fishery to continue for decades as well as protecting our waters from invasive species.

Competitive by nature, Adam takes every charter trip as a personal challenge; yours will be no exception. A father of two, he takes particular delight in watching the spark in the eye of a child as he or she lands their first big fish. His goal is to teach the youngsters how to fish and love the water all while fishing safely and…with patience!

Captain Bios

Captain Ben Larrabee

Born and raised in Traverse City, MI, Captain Ben has spent a majority of his life on the water pursuing a wide variety of fish species all across the Great Lakes state and beyond. You could say he was born into the industry, having a grandfather as a charter captain he started out as a first mate at the ripe age of 14 on his home waters of East Grand Traverse Bay pursuing lake trout and salmon. Captain Ben has fine tuned his trolling skills over the years in order to give his clients the best fishing experience possible. During the off season you’ll find him pursuing his second passion, hunting whitetail and waterfowl throughout the Midwest. When things freeze over in the mitten state odds are he is chasing perch and walleye through the ice or snowmobiling in Michigan’s beautiful upper peninsula.

Mega-Bite-Charters-Captain-Craig

Captain Craig Keller

A former marine who fulfilled his lifelong dream to live in Traverse City, MI, Captain Craig moved to the Grand Traverse area of Northern Michigan in 1983. He started mating for Traverse City charter fishing excursions in 2006 and has extensive, successful experience fishing both East and West Grand Traverse Bay. Whether you’re after a prize catch of Salmon or Lake Trout, Craig loves (and knows how to find!) both. Teaching people how to fish is a passion for Captain Craig, and he’s exceptionally talented at showing children the ropes (lines?!). Ask him to show you the special fishing dances he has choreographed to get fish to bite!!

Captain Ron Dohm, Jr.

A native of Traverse City, MI, Captain Ron was born with a rod and reel in his hands. As a child, he spent almost every night fishing the waters of not only Grand Traverse Bay in Northern Michigan with his father, but many of our northern inland lakes. He became known for his trolling abilities on the Tournament trail! Along with his passion for putting you on a great Steelhead or Lake Trout, Ron is very skilled at a wide variety of fishing techniques, whether chasing small mouth bass or trolling for Lake Trout or King Salmon. A student at Western Michigan University, Ron is focused on preserving and protecting our northern Michigan fishery, as a Freshwater Studies major. This Traverse City native also loves hunting and playing basketball in his “not so spare” time!

First Mate Austin Rubin

My names Austin Rubin, I am 19 years old and a first mate on Mega Bite Charters in Traverse city Michigan. I was born and raised in Traverse City Michigan. I have been brought up fishing these great waters with my dad since I was 5 years old. I am very passionate about charter fishing and enjoy watching endless smiles on customers faces as we put fish in the boat. I’ve fished other places but I’ve found that Northern Michigan is the place to be.
