Fantastic Lake trout fishing

July 9, 2015 at 1:05am in Fishing Report

Wow! The lake trout fishing has been fantastic!! The water is starting to get warmer and we are getting a thermo cline for the trout! The last 2 weeks we have limited on every trip but 2. I see the fishing staying the same for the next 2 weeks or so. We still are not seeing any Salmon yet in East Grand traverse bay:(. The trout have been coming in about 80 to 100 ft on bottom with Dodgers and peanuts. Green and yellows seem to be working the best behind a green or glow green dodger. There are still a few openings for the month of July. We are hoping to start seeing are salmon in the next 2 to 3 weeks! Hope to see everyone out on the water! Until next time.

Lake trout tournament/ update

June 18, 2015 at 1:02am in Fishing Report

Well, the lake trout fishing tournament was a great success. We took 2nd out of 23 boats, we got edged out by .45lbs, by the boat that took 2nd last year. We just did a flip flop! Congrats to Captain Brian. We weighed in 4 lake trout and one beautiful steel head, but fell just short. Fishing is still great for lake trout and will before the next couple of weeks! The fish are starting to get in a thermocline and we are produceing great numbers! The trout are coming mainly on super slims from Dream Weaver and in the blue dolphin colors. The cowbells are still produceing fish as well. Most fish are being caught in 85-100ft of water. We have seen a glimpse of a few salmon in East bay as well. Hope to see everyone on the water. We still have a few opening for the end of June and first part of July.

until next time,

Tight lines,

Capt. Adam.

Lake trout fishing is on fire right now in east grand traverse bay in Traverse city, Michigan!

We fished today in some thick fog but was able to get a 4 man limit on lake trout! The fishing has been good in 75 to 100 feet of water. The fish have been stuffed with large Alwives and gobies. Tomorrow we have our lake trout tournament in Grand Traverse bay… So we will keep you informed on how things go..

until next time,

Tight lines,

Capt. Adam.

How We Catch Fish

April 28, 2015 at 4:03pm in Fishing Report

How We Catch Fish at Mega-Bite Fishing

How do we do so well at Mega Bite? Besides YOUR pleasure ride in the amazing waters of Traverse City's East and West Grand Traverse Bay, we use the perfect lures that are destined to catch the fish you so desire to fight and land in our 31 foot boat.

Specifically, the Vulcan Blue Dolphin Glow Spoon is THE standard. It's a 1/2 ounce, 5/8 inch wide by 3 inch long fishing spoon has long been a staple for salmon and trout. We usually use this as the sun comes up and down deep. It's glow in the dark feature is so bright green, fish in low light dig it enough to go after it. Plus it's heavy…no losing the big one because of this thing. The vibrating action calls fish from a ways out…going fast or slow troll.

There you go…hopefully the tips help you grab your best catch this year...no boat? No worries. Call us and we'll get you happy immediately.

Down Riggers Are In Over 80ft

April 28, 2015 at 4:02pm in Fishing Report

Even though the water in East Grand Traverse bay is cold averaging about 54 degrees, we are consistently catching fish. Down riggers are in over 80ft of water on the bottom for lake trout. Also, a few king salmon on 10 colors. Come on down and lets get 'em.
